The Brenthaven Neighborhood does not need a cell tower planted right in the backyards and front yards of its taxpayers. Preserve the beauty and safety of our neighborhood! That’s what makes Brenthaven special! Put Cell Towers where they belong: in commercial and industrial areas or city property, not in our backyards or close to our schools! |

MEETING SCHEDULE AND STATUS OF CELL TOWER APPLICATION |

Notice - UPDATE 7-7-07 Alternate locations are available pending a search ring which will be provided to the city on July 16, 2007. However the Planning Board is working with Verizon to permit this to happen. Zoning Board Hearing Monday, August 6. 2007 The reality is, the industry must grow and without towers, they can not. Towers cost about $250k to build and they lease out to the carriers (Cingular, T-Mobile etc). In most cases the tower owner builds to sell and makes a profit. However, there are options for these tower owners and carriers (Cingular, Verizon etc.). When they have a need there is a search ring where the tower can go within a pretty wide land base. They want the most convenient and cheapest location for them regardless of the owners who live in the area. It is all about money! If they do not get opposition, then they move forward. The city has not contacted the property owners or residents of Brenthaven to let us know this is on the Docket for review. Covington Drive is easy and cheap. Why? The tower already exists, there is a road, and the two adjacent property owners have already agreed to compensation. One property owner has agreed to give an easement to Ingress and Egress to the site knowing there will be all of this activity going on. Typically they will pay a monthly fee or a flat sum. In a lot of cases this amount can be substantial. Amazing what money will do to people. |

Do you want this in Brenthaven 1. There will be several metal and concrete buildings at this site. 10x10 concrete huts and as each additional carrier attaches to the tower, they will require a separate hut. They do not co-locate in the same building 2. A diesel back up generator up to 20x30 feet wide & 8 ft tall will be required. Additional carriers share the generator. It is not in the drawings, but it too will follow. 3. A fence around the compound: ever green or metal chain link (very unattractive - look at the one behind the old Service merchandise building and at the Harley Davidson site and above illustrated site). 4. Technicians and trucks constantly in/out of the compound working on the radio equipment and running new black 1" coax cable up the pole (very un-attractive). 5. The work has to be done usually during the window of 11:00 pm to 6:00 am. 6. Ingress/Egress: constant traffic and large commercial vehicles on our streets and cranes to lift the heavy antennas. 7. 9. Ugly black 1' coax cable running up the tower. 8. If this goes through others will follow guaranteed. 9. If this was The Governors Club or Princeton Hill, be assured there would be an outrage, and the city would not be trying to accommodate. |
The city and Verizon do have choices: 1. Behind the Lexus dealership existing cell equipment and a commercial area. 2. Existing cell tower at the old Service Merchandise building across I-65. 3. Move a few poles away from our residential neighborhood. |
***Let the City commissioners and Zoning Board know you want this tower put in a more appropriate location. It doesn’t belong in our residential neighborhoods.*** |
STOP Verizon Wireless and the City of Brentwood from bringing this intrusive, enormous cell infrastructure into our neighborhood. Call and tell them NO! you don’t want it here! |
CALL Joe Lassus – Director of Planning (615) 371-2260 |
Verizon Wireless is requesting to put a cell antenna on an existing TVA Tower. Let them know we don’t want this in our beautiful neighborhood! |
Homeowners will have trouble selling their homes, property values will drop: keep it out! (would you buy a home near a cell tower and base station equipment?) |
There are many more appropriate areas in nearby business districts, and in outlying areas, away from children and family life. |
We need everyone in the neighborhood to come out to let the Planning Board and the Council know how we feel. Let them know we want to preserve the beauty and safety of our Neighborhood. |
They will not stop there! More towers will follow. Carriers and tower owners have already said they need more than one tower. Call the City commissioners to tell them you do not want towers in residing neighborhood! Make those calls! “AACT” Citizens’ Committee (Act Against Cell Towers!) |
